No Time To Get Homesick! I’m Here!

Well, I’m finally here. After a 6 hour drive to Lincoln, I’m all moved in. If any of you moved in this morning you probably experienced the unpleasant downpour while carrying your things in. With all this humidity it will probably be a week before my futon dries out.

Other than the rain, moving in went fairly smooth and I love my dorm! Unpacking was a bit overwhelming at first but it’s fun to organize everything. All my roommates seem really nice so we’re off to a good start! Leaving all my friends was hard, but it helps to know we’re all moving on. Recruitment starts tonight so I should be kept plenty busy. No time to get homesick! Hope everyone’s move in goes well!

Packed and Ready To Go

My room is officially all packed except for the few necessities I’ll need these next couple days. I’ve been wearing old grungy clothes because I don’t want to unpack anything or do laundry before I go. What can I say, I look real good in 7 year old t-shirts and shorts

Two of my best friends have now left for college and I’m already bored without them. It was much harder to say goodbye than I thought it would be. Not knowing when we’ll all be together again is a scary thought! Now that they have moved on to the next chapter in their lives, I am eager to leave for college and start my own. The nerves are beginning to kick-in, but I know everything will turn out just fine.

Out of all my friends, I am the next to leave so luckily I have no more goodbyes until I’m off. Hopefully I can enjoy my last few days rather than being stressed about having everything packed. Hope everyone’s packing is coming along! Enjoy this last week of summer!

Mismatched Socks and Separation Anxiety

It’s official, in less than two weeks we’ll all be in class jotting down notes and trying to stay awake during lectures. It still hasn’t hit me that I’ll be leaving for college so soon. I starting packing and it’s much easier said than done. I’m a bit of a hoarder when it comes to clothes and could probably come up with an excuse on why I might need a mismatched sock at college.

Luckily, I have an older sister in college that has been helping me narrow down the items to take. I am convinced that I will find a way to fit as many clothes in my dorm room as I feel necessary. Let’s hope my roommate and I are on the same page:). In a few days, the first of my close friends will be heading off to college. I’ve held it together so far, but that’s probably because we find a way to have breakfast, lunch, and dinner together everyday. I don’t even have a chance to miss them yet. One of our parents asked if we had separation anxiety because we never leave each others side. I’ll admit it, we probably do. Wish me luck these next few days, I hate good byes!

Room Assignment…Finally!

Room assignments are here! After a long wait, I finally got my assigned roommates that I will be living with for the next year. I’m living in Knoll so I have 3 roommates instead of 1. It was a relief to see all my roommates look like great girls and will be a ton of fun to live with! I hope you all found the same thing with your roommates. Cross your fingers for no roommate horror stories!

This past week I went up to Lincoln to get a lap top at the computer store and check out the bookstore. The computer store at the Union is pretty cool and offers some good deals as a student. Lap tops definitely aren’t cheap! Move-in date is getting closer and it’s about time to start packing . I HATE packing. With a 6 hour drive down to Lincoln, I have to choose wisely what I want to shove into my car for the road trip. I can only imagine the length of drive some of the out-of-state students have to make. As of now, I’m doing my best to spend as much time as possible with friends and family. Seeing “August” on the calendar seems unreal! Hope everyone is enjoying their last few weeks of summer!

Move-In Nearing, Final Goodbyes With Friends

Hey everyone! I’m Aimee, and I’ll be a freshman at UNL this fall. I will be blogging this next month as we get closer to our move-in date. Hopefully by posting some of my experiences, you all will be able to relate to the roller coaster of emotions going on throughout my summer before my first year of college.

I’m excited to be an “official” husker, but as my summer is now halfway over, I can’t believe how fast time has gone! My summer has been filled with spending time with friends, family, and making a little money before I embrace college life. I attended NSE in June and was happy to finally get my class schedule.

I don’t know about you guys, but enrolling in classes made going to college more of a reality. I have a group of 8 best friends, and we’ve been inseparable this past year. Of course, none of us are going to the same college so it will make our goodbyes twice as hard. We recently went on a trip to Denver, as we are now realizing we only have a few weeks left before we all go our separate ways.

There will/have been plenty of tears just thinking about leaving everyone close to me. However, I also can’t wait to meet new people, live on my own, get out of a small town (probably the same things every other high school graduate says). Now the only question is where will I be living this next year!?
